Student Backlot Tour Program

This tour highlights the wide array of career opportunities available in the entertainment and production industries, by taking students behind-the-scenes to visit closed sets, working soundstages, and even the prop warehouse (subject to availability).

Students can feel like a celebrity for the day when they follow in the footsteps that Hollywood heavyweights have walked before. This special tour lasts approximately two and half hours and takes you behind-the-scenes.

Listen to stories by Hollywood insiders about the making of some of the most famous films and TV shows. This tour is excellent for grades 4-12 and provides valuable insight into the wide array of career opportunities available in the entertainment and production industries.

Time
Morning and afternoon tours. Your group will be notified of your scheduled tour time before your trip. Tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
Tickets
Reservations and advance payment are required.
Grades
4 through College.
Restrictions

Minimum
15 students per school. Because of the nature of this experience, we require at least one adult chaperone(s) for every 15 students.
Maximum
100 total (including chaperones), with maximum of 24-26 students per vehicle (maximum may vary based on vehicle availability). Groups may be split between morning and afternoon tours.

Getting Here & Details

Tour movie industry sets in a special trolley, where you can disembark to explore areas not open to the general public. Visit actual sound stages where blockbuster movies and TV shows are filmed. Visit our famous property department, home to thousands of set pieces and decorative items used for film and television production. This tour takes students behind-the-scenes.

Give your students an interactive, behind-the-scenes field trip they’ll never forget as they explore various aspects of filmmaking and special effects from their favorite blockbusters. At Universal Studios Hollywood there’s something for every grade. Groups should proceed through security and check in with our VIP Experience to the right of the front gate. Tickets will be provided upon check-in.
